Veterinary Technician - Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital

Location: Collinsville, IL

Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital is looking for a veterinary technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You

As a veterinary technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, assisting in surgeries, and supporting services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Veterinary technician licensure required or 2-3 years of Veterinary Assistant experience (depending on state requirements).
• 1-2 years of clinical experience.
• Surgical, anesthesia, and dental experience required.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures following state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians.
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate medical records and relevant health histories.
• Use safe restraining techniques and keep treatment areas clean and sterile.
• Support and mentor team members.
