Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

At BluePearl Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting opportunity to utilize and expand your skills while working alongside talented veterinary professionals.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
2. Triage emergency cases upon arrival, obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
4. Understand normal ranges of vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
5. Obtain and interpret vital signs, alerting veterinarians to changes or issues.
6. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
7. Calculate medical dosages accurately (including infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
8. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
9. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
10. Mentor and train co-workers with patience and empathy to address client concerns.
