Animal Emergency & Referral Center of York is looking for aPart-Time Weekend Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.
As a Part-Time Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate and intensive nursing care to emergency patients, including triage, stabilization, and treatment
- Assist veterinarians with emergency surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and medical treatments
- Perform medical treatments
- Monitor and record vital signs, administer medications, and perform diagnostic tests such as blood work and radiographs
- Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing clear explanations and compassionate support
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Manage time efficiently to prioritize multiple urgent tasks and ensure timely delivery of care
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in veterinary emergency care
- Veterinary technician licensure preferred, but not required.
- 1-2 years of clinical experience
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Cross-training at the front desk is required and you may occasionally be asked to assist with CSR (Client Service Representative) duties.
