VCA Blum Animal Hospital is expanding its Patient Care Team and seeking a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician!

Schedule: Full-time with rotating Saturdays.

Compensation: $22 - $25 / hr. Pay range and is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field.

Job Responsibilities(including but not limited to):

  • Perform laboratory work in cooperation with the veterinary team
  • Effectively perform sample collections such as venipuncture, cystocentesis, fecal collection, ear cytology, etc.
  • Place IV catheters, administer vaccines, administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes
  • Prepare blood, urine, tissue, and other specimen samples for outside laboratory analysis
  • Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team
  • Use and maintain laboratory equipment, including the Idexx ProCyte and Catalyst hematology machines, the SediVue urinalysis machine, and SNAP Pro
  • Use digital radiography machine
  • Properly annotate medical records
  • Provide client education including post-surgical discharge instructions, answering client questions during technician appointments, and phone call consultations
  • Triage emergency situations
  • Surgical preparation and monitoring, including calculation and administration of anesthetic drugs
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs under the supervision of a veterinarian

Qualifications:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or eligible to transfer state license (LVT, RVT, LVMT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE within 3 months.
