Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients on wellness, and help maintain high standards of care. The role involves on-site hospital work with a focus on safety, accuracy, and compassionate service.

You will participate in anesthesia, dentistry, and lab procedures while managing patient flow and reception duties in a busy clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of NAVTA approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent with veterinary industry experience.
• Experience handling dogs, cats and exotic animals; basic animal care skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in anesthesia, surgical assistance and dentistry while maintaining sterile environment.
• Maintain thorough medical charting and support hospital quality control standards.
• Educate clients about Wellness Plans and pet care guidance.
• Assist with reception duties: calls, appointments, patient intake and discharge.
• Obtain medical history and patient information; manage hospital supplies and inventory.
• Complete all assigned duties before shift end; advocate for hospital success.
• Adhere to OSHA standards and participate in safety-compliant practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned in a fast-paced hospital setting.
