Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients, and maintain high standards of care. The role includes assisting with surgery, dentistry, and lab procedures while ensuring accurate medical records and smooth hospital operations.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma, 6+ months in the veterinary field, and NAVTA-approved training (preferred). Onsite work with potential for growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry.
• Completion of an NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in surgery, dentistry, laboratory procedures, venipuncture, and sterile technique.
• Contribute to day-to-day hospital operations and efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
• Maintain accurate medical charting and patient records.
• Educate clients about Wellness Plans and pet care guidance.
• Assist with reception duties: phone calls, scheduling, and patient intake/discharge.
• Assist in managing hospital supplies and inventory.
• Complete all assigned duties before shift end.
• Advocate for hospital success and performance.
