As a Receptionist, you will:

  • Receive and place calls to clients for scheduling.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
  • Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, such as referral documentation and medical history.
  • Assist clients by providing instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescriptions per veterinarian’s instructions, and scheduling future appointments.
  • Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
  • Manage the hospital's financial transactions, maintaining accurate balances and following cash handling procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally.
  • Educate clients on pet health, preventative care, and hospital services to advocate for pets.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates.
  • Show empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
  • Utilize standard office equipment.
  • Possess knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
  • Have a flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays.
  • Experience with veterinary software is preferred.
  • Work independently and accept guidance as needed.
  • Possess organizational skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Communicate effectively, exercise good judgment, and manage stressful situations.
