Job description

Georgetown Veterinary Hospital is located in Georgetown, TX and has been serving the community for 16 years. We are a full-service animal hospital offering services such as routine medical, surgical, and dental care to dogs, cats, birds and small mammals for the Central Texas community. As a Receptionist you will:
  1. Receive and place calls to clients for the purpose of scheduling.
  2. Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
  3. Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, i.e. referral documentation, previous medical history received, etc.
  4. Assist all clients by providing necessary instructions, information and invoices, dispense prescription items per the veterinarian’s instructions, and schedule all future appointments.
  5. Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
  6. Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions, following all cash and credit card handling procedures, and following proper opening and closing procedures.
  7. Provide excellent customer service skills and an exceptional level of communication in a professional manner.
  8. Advocate for pets through client education on preventative care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations and all other hospital services/procedures.
  9. Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets and other teammates.
  10. Demonstrate ability to show empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Utilizing standard office/business equipment.
  2. Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  3. Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts.
  4. Experience with veterinary software is preferred.
  5. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  6. Possession of organizational skills.
  7. Critical thinking – Understanding logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  8. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, good judgment and ability to manage stressful situations.
Compensation and Benefits:
  1. Pay range of $12.35-$20.90/hour based on experience.
