Job summary

Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain is seeking an experienced 2nd shift receptionist to join our growing GP small animal practice. The role involves managing front-desk operations, handling high-volume calls, scheduling, and maintaining accurate patient records in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates will have 4–6 years in a small animal practice and 1–2 years in urgent care, strong computer skills, and solid communication abilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a small animal veterinary practice is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to manage high-volume phone calls and multitask.
  • Familiarity with medical documentation and patient care processes.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and manage front-desk operations.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Support client relations and provide information about services and policies.

Job description

Reception Position / 2nd Shift Position 930am to 830PM (four 10-hour days and 2 saturdays a month or five days a week 11am to 830 pm off Sat and Sunday)

Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain is looking to add an experienced talent to our growing team! We are currently a five-doctor GP small animal practice that offers boarding and grooming, as well as retail products. Due to growth and need, we are looking to add a 2nd-shift receptionist with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. To accomplish this, we will be adding to our team of dedicated client service representatives.

Ideal Candidate
  • 4-6 years of experience in a small animal general practice setting
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in an Urgent Care / Emergency room setting
  • Windows Product knowledge (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams) is a quick study when it comes to computers.
  • Excellent communication and written skills, as well as customer relations skills
  • A strong knowledge base of medial documenttation, and education.
  • Strong time management and organization, able to multitask and answer high-volume phones
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Able to multitask and maintain a calm environment
  • Able to handle difficult conversations (cost, euthanasia, medical needs)
  • Knowledge of Avimark Software Experience is a BONUS!
  • Staff management experience, with payroll financial knowledge is not required but ensures growth and additional opportunities, and pay.
  • Dedication to quality care for patients and stressful client situations.
  • Be a self-starter and self-motivated
  • Be able to think on your feet and work well unsupervised
Shift Requirements
  • MUST be ableto work 2nd shift 11 am to 830 PM.
    • Full Time - 4 nights / week and 2 Saturdays a month
    • Full Time - 5 nights / week NO WEEKENDS!
Wage and Extras
  • Based on the candidate's knowledge and experience in the veterinary field as well as shift worked, and management experience. The pay ranges from $16.00 to $20.00 per hour.

What To Expect
  • 2nd shift, from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with Saturdays twice a month
  • Be part of growing a new department and position within the hospital, having a part in setting protocols and standards of client service and patient care.
  • Must be self-driven, able to stay calm during stressful situations and busy during down times.
  • Be able to multitask, be open-minded, and be available to help where and when needed.
