Job summary

Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our 5-doctor practice offering medical, urgent care, surgery, laser procedures, and a large boarding/grooming facility. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in a small animal general practice and is skilled in IDeXX and radiology, with strong communication and client relations.

Qualifications

  • Licensed veterinary technician or 5+ years in general care and surgical veterinary services.

  • IDeXX and Radiology knowledge required.

Job description

Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain is looking to add some experienced talent to our growing Team! We are a 5-doctor practice that offers medical, Urgent Care/Sick visits, and surgical services, including laser surgery, BOAZ, and dental. We also have a large boarding facility and grooming.We have been serving the community since 1989, and we have recently added reproduction and endoscopy.

The ideal AHSM Veterinary Technician

Licensed or with a minimum of 5 years in General care and surgical veterinary services; an experienced technician

Desired job experience/work ethic:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a small animal general practice setting.
  • IDeXX and Radiology knowledge
  • Excellent communication and written skills, as well as customer relations skills
  • Surgical Experience (catheters and blood draws)
  • Be able to multitask and keep a calm environment
  • Canine pet handling - Cat knowledge and handling
  • Preventive care knowledge
  • Handle tough conversations (cost, euthanasia, medical needs)
  • Customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Motivated to learn and continue your education.
  • Timely and focused - A self-starter - Motivated

Provides an excellent and expeditious client experience; Is aware of patient needs and the correct monitoring and documentation of all medical treatments. Always has the well-being of the animal and its treatment in focus and keeps the team aware of all information. Good communication and documentation skills.

Starting wage is based on experience, license, surgical skills, and Urgent Care knowledge.

Wage and Extras
  • Based on the candidate's knowledge and experience in the veterinary field. AHSM's hourly pay rate ranges from $17 to $21 an hour.

Days/hours are rotating shifts.

M-F 645am-5pm / 730am to 630Pm, and 930am to 830Pm and Sat 730-330. Schedules are made out 30 days in advance and are 4 10-hour shifts.
