Job description

Be Part of a Team That Cares for Animals—and Each Other!

At the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, compassion isn’t just what we give animals. It’s how we treat people, too.

At Dayton Humane Veterinary Hospital, you’ll be part of a team that believes great veterinary care starts with supporting one another. We work together, share knowledge, celebrate each other’s strengths, and show up for our clients, patients, and teammates every day.

We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Receptionist who wants more than just a job. We want someone who enjoys connecting with people, thrives in a team environment, and takes pride in helping create a welcoming, positive experience for every client who walks through our doors.

Why You’ll Love Being Part of Our Team
  • Purpose in your work. Make a difference every day by helping people access veterinary care for the animals they love.
  • A team that has your back. Work alongside colleagues who value communication, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  • A culture where you belong. We embrace diversity, encourage learning, and believe everyone deserves to feel welcomed and supported.
  • A healthier work-life balance. We recognize that our employees have lives outside of work, and we believe their well-being matters.
  • A mission you can believe in. Join a nonprofit organization committed to animal welfare and expanding access to veterinary care in our community.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Receptionist, you’ll be the welcoming face and reassuring voice of our hospital. You’ll help clients navigate their veterinary visits, keep our daily operations running smoothly, and serve as an important connection between clients and our medical team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Answering incoming calls and making outgoing calls to clients.
  • Scheduling appointments and responding to emails.
  • Greeting clients and managing appointment check-in and checkout.
  • Helping clients understand our services, policies, and care recommendations.
  • Communicating with veterinary team members to support patient care and an efficient workflow.
  • Balancing multiple priorities while providing friendly, professional service.
  • Contributing to a positive team culture where everyone works together toward a common goal.
What Makes Someone a Great Fit?

We’re looking for someone who brings both experience and heart to the role.

  • At least one year of veterinary receptionist experience.
  • At least one year of experience working in a veterinary clinic.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to stay organized, adaptable, and calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine appreciation for teamwork and positive working relationships.
  • A compassionate, respectful approach to clients, patients, and colleagues.

You understand that the best veterinary hospitals aren’t built by one person doing everything perfectly. They’re built by a team that communicates, helps one another, and works together to make a difference.
