Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • Three years of supervisory experience required.
  • Three years or more managing a veterinary practice required.
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and coach staff at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of veterinary medicine and practice management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the veterinary hospital, ensuring efficient workflow and excellent customer service.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining adequate stock levels of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and veterinary team to optimize patient care and workflow.
  • Hire, train, and mentor staff members, promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Provide support and guidance to team members and step in when necessary.
  • Motivate staff and help build morale.
  • Use feedback from clients, staff, and management to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records related to hospital operations, finances, and inventory management.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key metrics, and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement to achieve the practice’s vision.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Practice Manager to join our team at Saint Francis Pet Care Center.


About us: Saint Francis Pet Care Center located in Tarpon Springs, Florida, is a multi-doctor full service veterinary hospital and boarding facility. We are proud to be AAHA accredited and a recognized Cat Friendly Practice. We are committed to providing the best care for our clients and their pets. Our veterinarians and our excellent support staff provide full-service medical and surgical expertise.


Overview:

The Practice Manager (PM) is critical to the success of the hospital, ensuring a positive culture built on shared values and direct communication, creating operational efficiencies, and problem-solving to improve client service and employee engagement. Typically, the PM is the “Integrator” on the hospital’s accountability chart and participates in the Thrive planning leadership meetings. The manager exercises sound judgment, and the willingness and capability to make decisions.


PM oversees the business activities of the hospital, including hiring and training hospital staff; working with Thrive finance to prepare and manage budgets; monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators; setting fees; maintaining inventory and an inventory control system; managing the hospital software, and implementing safety and security procedures.

  • Utilize feedback from clients, staff, and management to identify areas of improvement and implement appropriate changes.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to hospital operations, finances, and inventory management.

  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key metrics, and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

  • Promotes continuous quality improvement to ensure the practices’ success and achieve the vision.

  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to veterinary medicine and practice management.

  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated commitment to team development and mentorship.

  • Capable of leading, managing, and coaching staff at all levels.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a positive attitude.

  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of veterinary medicine and practice management.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting, including reading and analyzing a P&L statement.

  • Must have a availability during business hours, with occasional flexibility to accommodate hospitals’ needs.
