Job summary

The Licensed Veterinary Technician I in the Small Animal Specialty Services Oncology unit at the University of Georgia supports oncology care across Medical and Radiation Oncology, including anesthesia, chemotherapy, imaging, and treatment planning. Qualifications

  • Georgia Veterinary Technician license required or licensure within 6 months.
  • Experience handling canine and feline patients in stressful situations.
  • Phlebotomy on small or large animals.
  • Ability to manually calculate dose conversions.
  • Assist with anesthesia and chemotherapy in oncology setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care for oncology patients receiving radiation therapy.
  • Perform physical assessments, venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, medication administration.
  • Operate LINAC and imaging systems after training; position patients for treatment.
  • Teach veterinary students and technician trainees during clinical teaching.
  • Support chemotherapy appointments and patient care as needed.
