Job summary

Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ, is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology team. The ideal candidate is proficient in anesthesia monitoring and has CVT/LVT/RVT credentials or at least 2 years’ experience as a veterinary technician.

You will participate in in-patient assessments, perform procedures, assist with injectable chemotherapy and radiation therapy, collect lab samples, use imaging, monitor sedations, and educate clients.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT preferred, or a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Proficiency in anesthesia required.
• Experience in oncology is ideal but willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing appointments and managing clients during visits.
• Participating with the Oncologist's in-patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Provide both injectable chemotherapy and radiation therapy depending on patient diagnosis.
• Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates.
• Utilizing imaging modalities such as radiography and CT for assessment.
• Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
• Accurately calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs.
• Reviewing and understanding medical records pertinent to patient care.
• Providing empathy, comfort, and nursing care as a patient advocate during hospitalization.
• Maintaining equipment and ensuring safety for all patients.
• Providing extensive client communication and education on oncology processes.
