Job summary

IDEXX's Medical Laboratory Technician in Microbiology is a full-time role in North Grafton, MA. You will use automated analyzers, microscopes and other tools to diagnose animal illnesses and document culture results, contributing to pet care and veterinary outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Veterinary Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
• Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests preferred.
• Ability to operate lab equipment (microscopes, pipetting, analyzers).
• Strong teamwork and attention to detail.
• Physical ability to stand/sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb.
• Willingness to work in a laboratory with potential biohazards.

Responsibilities

• Use automated analyzers, microscopes and other tools to perform analyses to diagnose animal illnesses.
• Examine, interpret and document microbiological cultures from animal specimens.
• Specialize in reading, interpreting and documenting bacterial, fungal, and yeast cultures.
• Evaluate colony morphology, growth characteristics and organism abundance.
• Assist Senior Laboratory Technologists with advanced testing and documenting results.
• Maintain Laboratory Information Systems; uphold biosafety and instrument performance.
• Set up and run lab tests, read and release results per SOPs.
• Work in assigned department and explore opportunities for growth.
