Job summary

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician in the Microbiology department at our NORTH GRAFTON, MA lab. This full-time role supports veterinarians by performing analyses with automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic tools to diagnose animal illnesses.

The candidate will examine cultures, document results, and help with advanced testing under supervision. We value teamwork, safety, and precise, reliable work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Veterinary Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
• Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab equipment preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Use automated analyzers, microscopes and other lab tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses.
• Examine, interpret and document microbiological cultures from animal specimens to support diagnoses.
• Specialize in reading, interpreting and documenting bacterial, fungal, and yeast cultures.
• Evaluate colony morphology, growth characteristics, hemolysis patterns and organism abundance.
• Assist Senior Laboratory Technologists with advanced testing and documenting results.
• Utilize Laboratory Information Systems, biosafety knowledge, monitor instrument and media performance.
• Set up and run lab tests, read and release results according to SOPs.
