The Veterinary Medical Director will lead a 1–5 doctor team, mentor clinicians, collaborate with regional leadership to recruit and retain talent, ensure clinical coverage, and uphold our culture, ethics, and patient-first care across all interactions.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent with active state and DEA license.
• 5+ years of veterinary practice experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat pets and counsel clients in pet care.
• Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of 1–5 doctors, fostering engagement and growth.
• Partner with Regional Medical Director and Talent team to recruit, onboard, and retain top-tier veterinary talent.
• Collaborate with Ops on doctor scheduling to ensure clinical coverage.
• Uphold Small Door's culture and values to the practice team and to our members.
• Serve as the clinical point of contact for escalated medical questions or concerns.
• Ensure that service accessibility aligns with member needs.
• Uphold Small Door’s hospitality standards in all client interactions.
• Mentor, manage and oversee doctors relating to their clinical skills and performance metrics.
