Small Door is seeking a Veterinary Medical Director to lead clinical operations for our growing network. You will diagnose and treat pets, mentor 1–5 doctors, and collaborate with leadership to recruit, onboard, and retain top veterinary talent.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent with an active state license and DEA registration.
• 5+ years of veterinary experience in clinical settings.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities within a medical team.
• Strong communication and collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat pets with illnesses and injuries; counsel clients.
• Lead and develop a team of 1–5 doctors, fostering engagement and growth.
• Partner with Regional Medical Director and Talent team to recruit and retain veterinarians.
• Collaborate with Ops on doctor scheduling for clinical coverage.
• Uphold Small Door's culture, hospitality, and service standards.
• Serve as clinical point of contact for escalated medical questions.
• Ensure accessibility of services aligns with member needs.
• Mentor doctors on clinical skills, performance, and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with Practice Manager to support cross-team collaboration.
• Advance open communication and continuous improvement with Nursing Leadership.
• Monitor financial performance and support budget targets and revenue goals.
• Ensure DEA, OSHA, and medical protocol compliance.
