Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners is seeking a Kennel Assistant to support grooming and boarding services and ensure a clean, safe environment for all patients. You will walk, feed, and, under supervision, administer medications, help with patient intake and discharge, and maintain records. Weekend availability is required and shifts rotate.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability required
• Previous veterinary experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist beyond 25 pounds
• OSHA safety techniques and PPE

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and/or boarding.
• Ensures patients are admitted with the client’s instructions and pickup time.
• Records feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during visits.
• Observes patient condition for illness or distress.
• Handles patients and restrains difficult cases as needed.
• Walks patients for exercise and elimination.
• Provides required food and liquids.
• Ensures cleanliness and proper identification of cages and personal property.
• Cleans and sterilizes kennels, runs, and bowls; launders towels and blankets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
