Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC is seeking a Kennel Assistant to provide compassionate care for boarding patients. The role includes cleaning kennels, walking and feeding animals, and administering medications under supervision. Strong safety practices and weekend availability are required.

The position emphasizes teamwork, clear communication with staff and clients, and maintaining a clean, safe facility. Previous veterinary exposure is preferred and benefits are offered to eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Ability to work weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; ability to lift over 25 pounds with assistance.
• Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and/or boarding.
• Ensures patients are admitted with instructions for quality outcomes including contact information and pick up time.
• Records information related to the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during visit.
• Observes patient condition for signs of illness or distress.
• Handles patients and restrains hard-to-control patients when needed.
• Walks patients several times a day for exercise and elimination.
• Applies knowledge of feeding and liquid needs; provides special foods/liquids as required.
• Ensures cages and patients are properly identified and personal property stored correctly.
• Regularly cleans, disinfects kennels; prevents spread of disease; washes bowls.
• Launders and dries towels and blankets.
• Maintains hospital grounds and trash removal.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
