South Kendall Animal Hospital in Palmetto Bay, FL is hiring a veterinary assistant/receptionist to be the primary contact for clients and their pets, balancing administrative precision with warmth in a clinical setting. You will handle front desk duties, client communications, appointments, payments, and EMR data entry, while supporting veterinarians and staff during exams and treatments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary reception/assistant role.
• Familiarity with veterinary practice management software is required.

Responsabilités

• Greet and check in clients and patients, verify and update medical records, and confirm appointment details using practice management software.
• Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system, respond to inquiries regarding appointment scheduling, prescription refill requests, vaccination records, and general hospital information.
• Perform client check-out, including processing payments, posting charges, explaining invoices, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
• Communicate medical information, diagnoses, and care instructions accurately and compassionately, including in emotionally sensitive situations such as euthanasia scheduling and end-of-life discussions.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure timely data entry in the veterinary practice information management system (PIMS).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room to ensure a positive client experience.
• Assist veterinarians and vet technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately, including those that are fearful or reactive.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed, and monitor hospitalized or boarding patients for changes in condition.
• Coordinate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to relay client communications, flag urgent cases, and maintain efficient patient flow.
