Job summary

New England Animal Medical Center Primary Care is seeking veterinary students for an externship in a thriving, AAHA-accredited practice with Fear Free certification. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn in a 5-doctor team staffed facility offering advanced dentistry and acupuncture services.

Externs work closely with experienced veterinarians, gaining skills in history taking, exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and case management while observing and assisting with surgeries and dental

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled veterinary student.
• Desire to gain hands-on clinical experience in a busy practice.
• Professional, eager to learn and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient histories.
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations.
• Develop diagnostic and treatment plans with veterinarians.
• Interpret diagnostic findings and discuss case management.
• Participate in preventive care and wellness appointments.
• Observe and assist with dentistry procedures, including radiographs.
• Observe, assist with, or perform surgical procedures as appropriate.
• Gain experience in medical management of hospitalized and outpatient cases.
• Learn about acupuncture and integrative treatment options.
• Enhance communication with veterinarians, technicians, staff and clients.
