Join a leading global pet care organization through an externship designed for veterinary students. Gain hands-on clinical experience and work under the guidance of experienced veterinarians at NVA hospitals. Enhance your medical management and communication skills while contributing to quality animal care.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students the opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Each NVA hospital is unique, but all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management. This externship also provides an opportunity to develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Acoaxet Veterinary Clinic typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. View stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
