A leading veterinary clinic is offering externship opportunities for veterinary students at Canterbury Animal Hospital. The program emphasizes hands-on experience in patient care and clinical skills under the supervision of experienced veterinarians. Students will gain invaluable exposure in a supportive environment, fostering their growth as future veterinary professionals with unique learning opportunities.
Canterbury Animal Hospital is a small boutique clinic committed to providing the best medicine. We recently added a state-of-the-art dental suite. Located on the border between Portland Metro and the city of Tigard, we see a diverse range of patients from pampered pets to working dogs. Our well-versed managing doctor supports our growing DVM team and mentors externs.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and HERE for stipend program details.
