A leading global pet care organization offers an externship opportunity for veterinary students at their NVA hospitals. This externship allows students to gain hands-on clinical experience, work closely with veterinarians, and develop essential patient care skills. It ranges from two to eight weeks, and participants may receive a living expense stipend.
An externship at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of a veterinary practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient medical care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration at Barclay Hills Animal Clinic typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view the stipend amounts and HERE for more details.
