National Veterinary Associates invites veterinary students for externships at Lake Street Animal Hospital, providing hands-on experience in various aspects of veterinary medicine, including dentistry and surgical procedures. External durations vary from two to eight weeks, with stipends available for eligible participants.
Lake Street Animal Hospital offers externs hands-on experience with all levels of dentistry. Our team includes three full-time DVMs with over 30 years of combined general practice experience. Lake Street has been AAHA accredited for over 15 years and provides in-house diagnostics, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and laser therapy. Our highly skilled CVTs and technicians have been with us for over 10 years. From the moment you enter the hospital, you become part of the LSAH family. We are dedicated to developing, learning, and supporting each other.
Externs will work closely with supervising veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing patient care. They will also have opportunities to improve communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
