Job description

Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic offers up to a $2500 travel stipend for Clinical Year Externships.

An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they share common qualities: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and medical management. Externs will also have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Our hospital is located in an upper-middle-class to affluent lake community, serving clientele that allows for necessary and appropriate treatments.

Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are designed for 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students.
