Students will engage in patient care activities, gain valuable medical skills, and receive a travel stipend.
Brown Trail Animal Hospital offers up to a $2500 travel stipend for Clinical Year Externships!
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they all share a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration at Brown Trail Animal Hospital typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. This program is designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view the stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
