National Veterinary Associates offers externships for veterinary students at Family Pet Clinic in Grapevine, providing hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment. Students will work closely with veterinarians to enhance their skills in patient management, diagnostics, and communication while benefiting from a travel stipend for expenses.
Family Pet Clinic Grapevine offers up to a $2,500 travel stipend for Clinical Year Externships!
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of a veterinary practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they share common qualities: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a dedication to providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will collaborate closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing patient care medically. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration at Family Pet Clinic of Grapevine typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend. Click here to view the list of stipend amounts and for details on the stipend program.
