Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. All NVA hospitals provide a supportive, medicine‑focused environment that delivers exceptional service to animals and their owners.

• Assist with diagnostic testing, dentistry services, and observe or assist in surgical procedures.
• Participate in the medical management of patients.
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

• Externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, varying with student and hospital schedules.
• Available to veterinary students in their clinical year.
• Housing may be available in some circumstances.
