National Veterinary Associates offers a supportive externship program at Nolensville Veterinary Hospital for veterinary students. Participants will gain hands-on clinical experience working with professional staff, including opportunities in diagnostics, care management, and surgical assistance over a duration of two to eight weeks.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Nolensville Veterinary Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and HERE for stipend program details.
