National Veterinary Associates offers a unique externship opportunity for veterinary students to gain hands-on clinical experience at NVA hospitals. Students actively participate in patient care, surgeries, and communication within medical teams, while being supported in their professional growth. Funding for living expenses is provided, further enhancing this enriching experience.
An externship at a NVA hospital offers veterinary students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. Each NVA hospital provides a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. This externship also enhances communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship duration at Carothers Parkway Veterinary Clinic typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education are encouraged to participate.
Eligible veterinary students may receive a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and HERE for stipend program details.
