Join National Veterinary Associates as an extern and gain invaluable hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment. This opportunity allows veterinary students to work closely with Associate Veterinarians, enhancing their skills in patient care, diagnostics, and communication while contributing to excellent animal care. The externship duration varies from two to eight weeks, and students may be eligible for stipends to assist with living expenses.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers veterinary students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience.
While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Externs will also have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
