Clinton Parkway Animal Hospital has been a trusted member of the Lawrence, KS community for 50 years. Through our comprehensive approach to medicine, we have built a reputation for being the place that pet owners come to when their pet has a problem that no other veterinarian can figure out. Our team of 5 veterinarians and 3 registered veterinary technicians includes an ABVP diplomat in Canine and Feline medicine with clinical teaching experience in small animal dentistry, as well as clinicians trained in complete abdominal ultrasound. We are AAHA‑accredited and well equipped for in‑house diagnostics, including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, digital radiography, dental radiography, and ultrasound.
Student externs will spend time with one or more veterinarians observing wellness appointments, diagnostic workups for sick pets, routine surgical and dentistry cases, and available emergency surgeries. Externs will also spend time in exam rooms with clients, allowing for valuable communication practice, and will attend weekly rounds with our team to discuss challenging cases.
Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend. List of stipend amounts and details are available online.
