Abqpetcarehospital in Klamath Falls offers an externship for veterinary students seeking hands-on experience in clinical care. Students will work under the guidance of an experienced veterinarian to develop essential veterinary skills, including patient history gathering and surgical assistance.
The externship ranges from two to eight weeks, allowing students to adapt their schedules accordingly. Eligible students can also receive a stipend to cover travel and living expenses.
Located in a rural market with a hometown feel, the clinic is staffed by an experienced, passionate veterinarian who mentors students in clinical care.
This externship provides hands‑on veterinary experience. Students work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain skills in patient history gathering, physical examination, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, surgical assistance or performance, and medical management. Externs also develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate.
