Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Veterinary Teaching Hospital invites applications for a 100% full-time Civil Service Customer Service Specialist. You will handle client estimates, scheduling, admissions, discharges, and education, acting as liaison between clients, clinical staff and records offices.

Candidates should have strong customer service, organizational skills and experience with medical office procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of related experience from specified categories.
• Bachelor’s or higher hours equivalency may apply as described.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed estimates to clients.
• Facilitate admission, scheduling and discharging of clients.
• Provide in person and telephone customer service in a prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful manner.
• Audit client charges and ensure charge accuracy for client accounts.
• Assist with expediting prescription requests from outside pharmacies.
• Serve as liaison for resolution of client issues regarding surgery patients or appointments.
• Audit client survey data and respond to concerns as needed.
• Manage appointment reminders for clinical service.
• Coordinate clinical appointments including data entry into Health Information System.
• Maintain cancelation/wait list for service.
• Create and maintain schedule templates for services.
• Ensure VTH policies and procedures are followed.
• Assist in adding/removing students to service communication platforms.
• Provide client education regarding pre-appointment requirements and discharge instructions.
