Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients, and maintain a safe hospital environment. You will assist with examinations, monitor hospitalized or surgical patients, and help with prep work and procedures.

Ideal candidates have NAVTA certification or equivalent, strong communication, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinic. Eligible for comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Certificate of NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and technicians to ensure quality care and safety.
• Communicate with veterinarians, technicians and staff to maintain smooth patient flow.
• Provide efficient service, perform procedures not requiring staff, and prep for procedures.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Obtain patient history and maintain complete medical charts.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of treatment areas, rooms and labs.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Utilize skills within state laws and NAVTA guidelines.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
