Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to provide professional, efficient service while supporting veterinarians and the medical team. You will educate clients, maintain medical records, and help with surgeries in line with state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.

You will contribute to a smooth patient flow, ensure clean treatment areas, and mentor teammates, while striving to uphold the hospital’s five principles: Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom.

Qualifications

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care and advocate for pets.
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and preventive care.
• Maintain medical records and assist with surgeries and procedures as allowed by state act.
• Mentor and assist fellow team members to sustain patient flow and hospital standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and positive patient flow.
• Communicate with clients about health concerns and Optimum Wellness Plan options.
• Maintain relevant medical records and ensure clean, sterile treatment areas.
• Educate clients about preventive care and pet wellness plans.
• Support hospital functions to keep pets safe and exam rooms organized.
