Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and team members while maintaining high quality care.

You will assist with animal care, support procedures, and daily clinical tasks, while maintaining smooth patient flow through intake and discharge and communicating with the veterinary team about patient status.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program at a level that supports practice efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service to clients and pets.
• Assist with animal care, support procedures, and daily clinical tasks.
• Maintain the flow of patients, including intake and discharge.
• Communicate with veterinarians and veterinary technicians regarding patient status.
• Set up and carry out procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards to keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean and organized.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care.
• Mentor other team members.
