Qualifications

• Preferred to have at least 1-year previous experience in veterinary practice or related animal care experience.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and maintain a professional attitude under stressful situations.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, obtain weight and vital signs, and document in EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle and dispense medications as directed by the veterinarian; maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments and provide client education, relay test results to doctors and clients.
• Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and assist during anesthesia and recovery.
• Perform in-hospital treatments, administer medications, and manage fluids as directed.
• Assist in training new staff and maintain a clean hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
