Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to provide high-quality medical care to Vetco Total Care patients and exceptional service to owners. You will support doctors, manage EMRs, and ensure smooth hospital operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires at least 1 year in veterinary settings, strong communication, and teamwork. You’ll contribute to patient well-being and customer satisfaction while supporting our compassionate Petco team.

Qualifications

• Preferred to have at least 1-year previous experience in veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills are required.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and document visits in EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry and euthanasia.
• Restrain patients, collect samples, dispense medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, and update records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist during anesthesia and recovery.
• Perform in-hospital treatments and monitor patients under supervision.
• Assist in training new staff and maintain hospital cleanliness.
