Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must be able to perform all required NAVTA approved veterinary assistant program skills at a level that aids efficiency.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography and exposure to radioactive substances.
• One year related experience preferred with customer service experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Assist veterinarians and technicians to ensure high quality pet care and smooth patient flow.
• Provide professional, efficient service; prepare procedures and monitor hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed by state acts.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Obtain history from clients and maintain complete medical charts.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of treatment areas and labs; assist with surgery as applicable.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals and support team collaboration.
