Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality care for pets. You will educate clients on wellness plans, maintain medical charts, and help ensure a clean, safe hospital environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to standard protocols, and commitment to client service. The position may involve assisting with procedures and mentoring junior staff, with a strong focus on patient safety and care.

Qualifications

• NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program completion or equivalent
• Must perform NAVTA skills to aid practice efficiency
• Must be 18+ for radiography duties
• One year related experience with customer service preferred

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to ensure the best quality pet care and to maximize the veterinarian's and veterinary technician’s productivity.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times including procedures that may not require vet tech assistance and preparing for others.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
• Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets and clients by following safe restraining techniques and maintaining clean areas.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
• Other duties as assigned
