Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates, and the continuity of high‑quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and procedures
• Maintain patient flow and coordinate care
• Set up and clean exam rooms, labs, and treatment areas
• Take vital signs, process laboratory samples, and prepare patients for procedures (as permitted by practice acts)
• Communicate effectively with clients and staff regarding treatment plans and preventive care
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care
• Mentor and support other hospital team members

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training, and experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to perform all required skills of an NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program

Pay

Hourly: $15.00 – $18.39 (rate determined by experience, skill level, and education)
