Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and techs, help ensure pet safety, and maintain high-quality care. You will help manage patient flow, set up procedures, and uphold cleanliness and safety across treatment areas and labs. The role includes educating clients about preventive care and wellness plans while mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

  • NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent knowledge and training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience performing NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant tasks to aid practice efficiency.

Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities
  • Help maintain the flow of patients
  • Communicate with the veterinarian and vet techs
  • Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
  • Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe, and keep treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care
  • Mentor other members of the hospital team
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent knowledge, training and experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Preferred experience: Able to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice
Pay

$15.19 – $19.41 hourly. The specific rate is determined based on experience, skill level, education and may vary by location or applicable minimum wage laws.
