Job Summary
The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.
Pay Range: $15.00 - $18.39 hourly.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and procedural support.
- Maintain the flow of patients through the clinic and help keep examination rooms, labs, and treatment areas safe, clean, and organized.
- Communicate with veterinarians, vet techs, and other team members about patient status and procedural needs.
- Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance, following NAVTA guidelines and state practice acts.
- Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service to clients and pets, ensuring comfort and quality of care.
- Educate clients about experience plans such as Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
- Mentor and support other members of the hospital team.
Qualifications
- Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program at a level that supports the efficiency of the practice.
