Job description

Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates, and continuity of quality veterinary care.

Preferred Education / Licenses (not required)
  • Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Must be able to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program to aid in practice efficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in the delivery of veterinary services.
  • Maintain flow of patients and equipment during procedures.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and techs regarding patient status.
  • Set up and carry out procedures that do not require veterinarian or tech assistance.
  • Adhere to hospital standards for pet safety, cleanliness of exam rooms, labs, and treatment areas.
  • Educate clients about preventive care and the company’s Optimum Wellness Plans.
  • Mentor and support other members of the hospital team.

Pay

Hourly: $17.60 - $22.49 (rate determined by experience, skill level, education, and applicable minimum wage laws).
