For those who want to put their love of pets into action, there are few jobs more rewarding than that of Vet Assistant. While working closely with other pet health care professionals at Banfield, you will have the chance to advocate for pets and educate clients on all aspects of pet health.
You will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure the safety of pets, clients and associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.
Responsibilities
- Help maintain the flow of patients
- Communicate with veterinarians and vet technicians
- Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance
- Adhere to hospital standards to keep pets safe and treatment areas clean and organized
- Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care
- Mentor other members of the hospital team
- Assist in maintaining patient safety and continuity of care
Qualifications
- Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training, and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program at a level that aids the efficiency of the practice

Pay
Hourly pay range: $18.40 - $23.51. The rate depends on experience, skill level and education and may vary by location or applicable minimum wage laws.
