Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients, and maintain high standards of care. The role emphasizes safety, charting, and efficient hospital operations.

The position requires a high school diploma and 6+ months in veterinary care, with NAVTA training preferred. Onsite hospital work, long shifts, and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program preferred.
• Minimum 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry.
• Completion of NAVTA-approved program or equivalent education/experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians in surgical, dental, and diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain medical charts and client education on wellness plans.
• Take reception duties: phones, scheduling, patient intake and discharge.
• Attend to inventory, hospital supplies, and ensure shift-end duty completion.
• Adhere to OSHA standards and ensure patient safety in a fast-paced hospital.
