Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering quality care for pets. You will educate clients on wellness plans, maintain medical charts, and help ensure a safe hospital environment while supporting surgical procedures as needed.

The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and high-standard client service, with potential for mentorship of junior staff and weekend/evening hours as required.

• Certificate of NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Live by the Five Principles within self and team.
• Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to ensure best care and productivity.
• Communicate with veterinarian, technicians and associates to maintain flow of patients.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times, including preparatory work and client/pet comfort.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Obtain client history and maintain medical charts.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of treatment areas; assist with surgery as applicable.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
• Other duties as assigned.
